Gent to Mol

We slept in a bit this morning.  Kirily is getting quite worried that she won't manage to stay awake into the wee hours when she gets to Graspop, so she's staying up as late as she can (like 10pm) and getting up late (as late as 9am this morning).   Here's a shot of the building that our apartment's in:

The entrance is just to Kiri's right; the apartment is on the 4th floor, so it's not actually in the pic
This morning we visited Sint Baafs Cathedral.  It's huge, and lovely.  Lots of signs saying no photographs, but all the tour groups were taking flash photos everywhere.  We asked someone if we could take photos, too, which was okay without flash.  We'd already been through the Crypt, so we don't have any photos from down there, but again, it's another immense space.

The main aisle
The altar
From outside, it's impossible to get a decent shot - too many other buildings close by
Here's the whole Cathedral.  Not sure who the statues are.
The Belfry, with Sint Niklaaskerk in the background on the left
The 5m long dragon atop the Belfry
Belgian hot chocolates - in Belgium!!
Off to Mol around midday.  Caught a tram to the station (3 euros, which has doubled since January apparently), then successfully bought train tickets to Mol from a ticket machine.  Yay!!

Gent station is pretty nice inside
Guy was nice enough to meet us at the station and drive us back to the B&B.  It's a lovely place in a leafy suburb about 1.5km from Mol station, where regular shuttlebuses take people to and from Graspop.

The front of the house
The entrance to our room is around the back
And looking from the other side.  Those are our windows at the top
Kiri is amused by this statue, who appears to be examining...hmmm
The view from our windows
And the room is lovely
The local neighbourhood
And a gorgeous thatched house
Here's the official photo - boarding the shuttlebus to Graspop Metal Meeting
Meanwhile, I did a bit of shopping (show you later) and wandered back home.  Although I was bird watching, I couldn't resist trying to photograph the insects.

The bee is about 2 cm long
And the result of my shopping, all nicely laid out for your jealousy!

Only eaten one so far!
