A second trip to Stade, and I was shown around by Carla, a friend of Elke's, who lives and works in the city. The weather, unfortunately, wasn't kind, so we stopped for tea whilst it rained, then wandered a bit more. This time, I got to the harbour area (Stade has canals), and the buildings there are particularly nice.
The following photos were taken around the harbour. There is also a reconstruction of an old crane (based on the one still standing in Lüneburg) which was used for loading ships from about the 13th century onwards.
