Der Sommerberg und der Baumwipfelpfad

On a good day weather-wise, I caught the Sommerbergbahn from Bad Wildbad up to the Sommerberg, the hill above the town. It's a Standseilbahn, so while there are a few seats, when it's full most people are standing.

On the Sommerberg is the Baumwipfelpfad - the treetop walk. It's about 1.2 kilometres long and is up to 20 metres above the ground. At the end there's a huge lookout platform 40 metres high, with an optional slide. Think of the Slippery Slip in Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series.

And, yes! Squirrels!

My first view of the lookout platform. Apparently there are several more of these in other locations in Germany.

After the slide (twice!), I went wandering through the forests on top of the Sommerberg. Lovely area, but hardly any birds.
